The fact is when we look at what is causing inflammation in our life, in all the negative health consequences associated with it, it all comes down to our diet. So, what in our diet are the pro-inflammatory foods that are driving us into a state of disease?
Common cooking oils
Many of the common vegetable oils are the ones that you may have in your home and are also the same oils that are used in restaurants. The problem with them is that they have very high omega-6, fatty acid content and they have low omega-3 fats. Some of these cooking oils you should avoid are polyunsaturated oils like:
- *cotton seed oil,
- *grapeseed oil,
- *safflower oil,
- *corn oil, and
- *sunflower oils
Produce
Shockingly, produce is something that is causing inflammation in your body. Based on produce samples tested by the U.S Department of Agriculture, they found that strawberries and spinach contained the highest amounts of pesticide residues. Strawberries, for example, tested positive for 20 different pesticides and spinach contained nearly twice the pesticide residue by weight than any other fruit or vegetable. Beyond just strawberries and spinach, there’s also what they call the “Dirty Dozen” which consists of:
- *kale
- *collard greens
- *mustard greens
- *nectarines
- *apples
- *grapes
- *bell peppers and
- *hot peppers
- *cherries
- *peaches
- *pears
- *celery, and
